The EHU Arts Department is a national leader in the training of the majority of art critics and nearly half of
the designers in Belarus. The EHU is the only educational establishment in Belarus that offers undergraduate courses in international cultural tourism. Every year the programs of this Department enjoy great popularity among young people not only from Belarus, but also from other countries.

The Arts Department was the first among the EHU departments to adopt a two-cycle program of training designers leading to the award of
a bachelor degree in Art Design and master degrees in the field of Audio-visual Communication Design.
The students of the Department can major in the interdisciplinary Visual Culture Studies Program, which is run jointly with the Department of Philosophy.

The Department's curriculum for major in History and Theory of Art is close to that of European and American universities. The training program of
the Arts Department is based on international cooperation, one of the subject areas of which is the rich Belarusian heritage of Vitebsk Avant-Garde schools (paintings by Kazimir Malevich, Mark Chagall and others).

The Arts Department was the first in Belarus to introduce the major in International Cultural Tourism. The development and realization of the curriculum are mostly based on cooperation with the Bourgogne University, France. The EHU Arts Department faculty and students in cooperation with the Center of Belarusian Studies actively develop projects on cultural revival and the exploration of cultural landscapes of Belarus.
