The Department offers programs in Philosophy and Cultural Studies.
It has provided instruction since 1992 with the emphasis on the history of philosophy
and modern philosophical thought. Under the leadership of Professor A. Mikhailov,
scholars from different countries in the fields of phenomenology and hermeneutics
established a new scientific school as a real alternative to the Marxist-Leninist
tradition, which has been cultivated in the Soviet universities and still implicitly
dominates in most Belarusian educational establishments. |

Strong emphasis is placed on German, which is augmented by the study of English,
Latin and Greek. It adds to a special profile of the Department's curriculum.
The EHU students are involved in the three research seminars in Phenomenology
and Hermeneutics, Philosophical Anthropology and Critical Theory.
The Department of Philosophy offers international master's and doctoral degree
programs in the following fields: Philosophy of Religion, Philosophical Anthropology,
Philosophy of Culture, Social Philosophy, and Cultural Studies. |
