Project Description:
The project is focused on the development of interdisciplinary scholarship
in the field of Cultural and Visual Studies and exploration of various methodologies
(such as semiotics, Film Studies, Feminist Theory, psychoanalysis, etc.) for the
analysis of contemporary visual culture (be it TV, cinema, public art, advertising,
visual arts or Net-culture). The project's aim is to encourage the introduction
of new courses related to Cultural/Visual Studies into the University curricula
(for the students of Depts. of Culturology, Film- and Art Theory, Philosophy,
Sociology and History) with the application of multimedia technologies, and to
provide incentives for interdisciplinary and international co-operation amongst
academics from the region.
